a superb c1916 sterling silver machine
turned napkin ring, 31 gms
Item number: STE24092226
Price: $95
This
is a lovely solid/heavy Art Deco machine turned napkin ring with a
thick edge. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1916 (so actually pre Art
Deco I guess), and is made by W & Co. The makers mark is a bit hard
to read because the line decorations obscure it. it might be W?&Co
or W?Co. Anyhow it is in superb condition and weighs about 31 grams
which is one ounce of silver.

vintage THICK Italian sterling silver
men's bracelet chain, blank cartouche
Item number: STE27120042
Price: $225
This is a lovely old sterling silver curb link chain
bracelet for a man. It
is
about 23.5 cms long, about 1.3 cms wide (see photo), and weighs 62.4
gms. It is in very good condition. There are some scruff marks on one
side of the cartouche. The Cartouche is blank so you can have it
inscribed/engaved with the name of your man, or maybe for yourself or a
male friend. Would make a great present. It is stamped Italy and 925 in
a couple of places and has some other tiny hallmarks I cannot read. Please ask questions if you
have any.

lovely antique sterling silver pepper
grinder, AF, John Grinsell & Sons, London 1893
Item number: STE27120048
Price: $225
This is a lovely old sterling silver and cut (crystal?)
glass pepper grinder. I have not seen many old sterling pepper
grinders before.
The lid, collar and base are all hallmarked (3 places) but various
parts of each of these hallmarks are rubbed, which is understandable as
it was an item of general use. From the various parts the hallmark is J.G&S
"lion
passant" London, a sharpish "s". I have identified the
silversmith to be John Grinsell & Sons, London
1893. It is also hallmarked underneath with a lion passant and
the number 3030, which must be the model or patent number. See
photos. I did the best I could and the hallmarks are a bit rubbed in
various places.
There is also a name on the bottom of the grinding mechanism. It reads:
"Peugeot Freres Brevetes
S.G.D.G." as far as I can tell.
The pepper grinder came from a deceased estate auction and still had
peppercorns inside and the mechanism works. I took it apart for the
photographs. The top is a bit dented here and there but pretty good
otherwise. The glass also seems to be good. The whole thing could do
with a good clean. The main damage is on the base
surround/skirting. It has some dents and a split along one of the edges
about 1.5 cms long. I think a good silversmith could easily repair this
for you.
The pepper grinder stands about 9 cms tall.

Russian silver lidded box 1883
Item number: STE16010243
Price: $775
This is a
lovely old solid silver
Russian lidded box. My guess is that it was probably used for jewellery
but I do not really know.
It is hallmarked. See photos. Looks like the silversmith is NP (H "pi"
in Cyrillic) which would correspond to Nikolai Pavlovich Pavlov. The
assayer looks to be O.C, I don't know who this is. The other hallmarks
are the date 1883 and 84 for the russian purity of silver used. The
town mark looks to be that of Moskow. Please look at the hallmarks
yourself. I am not an expert on Russian silver. Both the lid and the
bottom of the box are hallmarked.
The lidded box weighs about 137 gms, or about 4 1/2
oz.
The item is in excellent aged condition. I have not cleaned it at
all....as found from an estate auction.
Please ask questions if you have any.
