2 antique 19th century American sterling
or coin silver napkin rings
Item number: STE25102028
Price: $325
Two
lovely sterling (925) or coin silver (900) antique American napkin
rings. They are not marked, but are definitely silver and 19th century
American. They came from the same estate as the Gorham sterling silver
napkin rings above and are lovely.

antique Victorian American sterling silver
figural napkin ring, Art Nouveau design with poppy flowers, Simpson
Hall Miller & Co. # C 220 9, c1880
Item number: STE17110048
Price: $245
This is a lovely antique
Victorian/Art Nouveau American sterling silver napkin ring made by the
Simpson Hall Miller & Co., who are usually known for their
outstanding silverplate figural napkin rings. The ring is
intermittently fluted around the edges on both sides and has a lovely
(poppy?) flower and vine design on it. The detail is quite
extraordinary. I identified the hallmark from this
link. Judging from the
style I would say the ring is c1880 but it may well be older, as I
suspect Simpson Hall and Miller later specialised in silverplated
figurals.
The condition of the napkin ring is EXCELLENT. I have not cleaned it.
It weighs about 26.5 gms.

antique sterling silver figural napkin
ring, running greyhound, Chester 1910
Item number: STE02121809
Price: $950
This
is a lovely antique English sterling silver figural napkin ring (rare
as hen's teeth, as most figural napkin rings are silverplated) with the
napkin holder forming the body of a greyhound. The greyhound is about
11 cms long and the diameter of the ring is about 4.5 cms. The napkin
ring is hallmarked R.P, sterling silver, Chester, 1910. The maker is
Robert Pribgle & Sons. The figural napkin ring weighs 38 gms, well
over an ounce. It is in excellent condition. The detail on the
greyhound is outstanding, with muzzle and even a thin tail. I only
washed the item in warm soapy water.
Sterling
silver figural napkin rings are extremely rare and hard to find.

2 matching antique ornate pieced &
footed sterling silver candy/nut/bon bon dishes 146 gm
Item number: STE03011941
Price: $295
These are 2 lovely
Victorian sterling silver candy dishes. They are pieced and also
decorated with flowers leaves and ribbons along the top edges. They are
marked "sterling" and have the number 508 X imprinted on the bottom.
The maker's mark is also stamped on the bottom but is in script and I
cannot identify the maker. I am pretty sure they are American. The makers mark looks like
an F or T, followed by something else, followed by an L perhaps. Please
see photo. It may well be Taylor & Lawrie, Philadelphia,
established 1837.
The candy dishes are in
excellent condition. I have not cleaned them at all. there is some old
polish/cleaner in some places. There are no repairs or missing bits.
There is a tiny dent on the bottom of one of them. They are rather
heavy too (see below).
One weighs 70 gms and the other weighs 76 gms, so a total weight of 146
gms sterling, which is close to 5 ounces. I believe they date to the
late part of the 19th century. As they have slightly different weights
and size, I would say they were hand crafted by a silversmith.

antique sterling silver gravy/sauce boat
pourer bowl ebony handle + saucer 182 gms
Item number: STE03011945
Price: $395
This is a lovely antique
sterling silver gravy or sauce boat pourer with a turned ebony wood
handle plus a matching saucer that it
sits on. They are both hallmarked with a B and a crown above it, and
marked "sterling", which I believe is the Baltimore Sterling Silver
Company which operated from 1892 to 1904. The bowl/gravy boat and the
saucer are also marked with the production/pattern number 1231. They
are in excellent condition aged condition overall. Just a small
dent/ding here and there that can easily be pushed out. See photos. The
gravy boay weighs about 116 gms, and the saucer weighs 66 gms, that is
182 gms in all, which is close to 6 ounces. The handle is turned ebony
wood. The diameter of the pourer is about 10 cms (or 4 1/2 inches) at
the top, not including the spout, and is about 5.3 cms tall (or 2
inches) tall. The saucer has a diameter of about 14.5 cms (or 5
5/8 inches). I have not cleaned or polished the items.
This is an exceptional useful find. One does not often get the gravy
boay with its saucer underneath. Don't miss out on this one.

unique antique hallmarked sterling silver
dumbell shaped baby rattle USA
Item number: STE03011949
Price: $110
This is absolutely lovely
antique streling silver dumbell-shaped baby rattle. It is hallmarked
with a C or G or perhaps CR (small R connected to top of G perhaps,
could be Currier & Roby, New York, founded 1900). It has some small
silver pieces inside that move from one end of the dumbell to the other
as you shake or move it and makes a fair noise/rattle. It is in
excellent condition overall (no splits, cracks or repairs), but has a
few small dents. The dumbells might be slightly out of parallel. It
weighs a hefty 21.7 gms (2/3 oz), and is about 8 cms (3 1/8") , and the dumbells have
a diameter of about 3.2 cms (1 1/4").
It is a delightful little baby rattle.

antique American sterling silver serving
trolley toothpick holder cart on wheels
Item number: STE03011953
Price: $175
This is a lovely American
sterling silver serving trolley, maybe a toothpick holder. I am not
sure what would have been served in it. It seems a bit too big to be a
toothpick holder, but hey I just don't know. Maybe it is a cigarette
holder. It has a lovely shaped top with a beaded edge. The item is
fitted with 2 ebony wood wheels (beautifully made) and an ebony wood
turned handle. The wheels can be screwed off for cleaning. It is really
well made. It is marked "sterling" on the bottom, but I cannot find a
makers mark. It is in excellent condition (just a few tiny dings at the
bottom) and weighs about 78 gms with the wheels taken off. That is
about 2 1/2 ounces of sterling silver. I have not cleaned or polished
the item.

antique sterling silver dish/trinket
bowl/tray/ashtray? London 1934
Item number: STE03011958
Price: $125
This is a lovely antique
sterling silver small dish/trinket bowl/tray or ashtray...? It has
dragon engraved in the middle with the Latin motto "Esse Quam Videri",
which means "It is better to be than to seem to be". It is fully
hallmarked to the silversmith Richard Comyns, London 1934. On the back
it is also hand-engraved "Longman & Co, 1. Albemarle St. W.I.".
This is probably whom it belonged to, and I believe the address is in
London, but I do not know for sure, as the item did come from the
USA. It is about 8.3 cms (or 3 1/4 inches) in diameter and weighs
a heafty 60.1 gms, which is about 2 troy ounces. The item is in
excellent condition with no damage or repairs. I have not cleaned or
ploished the item.
